In the year 2040, I, Paul, 45 years old from Albuquerque, look back at 2028. We elected Marcus Vale—the libertarian messiah. The masses cheered. Government structures and ministries were efficiently dismantled—except for police and fire departments. Big Tech grinned, likening itself to demigods in this new era, using quantum computers and their AGI to steer our behaviour and opinions.
Google became the government, Amazon the social system, Tesla the police.

You typed “depression” once - boom: therapy contract, implanted serotonin booster, 36-month cancellation policy.
Decisions? Automated. Advertising? Personalized down to the limbic system.
I decided I would no longer be manipulated and joined the counter-movement. I got involved in local communities and helped build an independent information platform. It was a struggle, but I learned that true freedom and a strong democracy rely on awareness and engagement.
